THE GALLERY

St Ives Ceramics, was opened in 1990 by potter John Bedding on the site of the famous Harts Ice Cream factory. John first developed it as his studio workshop, fronting it with a small gallery space to show work of his own and other potters he admired. At that time pottery was only shown as secondary exhibits in the local galleries, and John had long felt there was a need for a dedicated ceramics gallery that would show work to its best and as primary exhibits. It proved to be very popular and became so successful that John felt the need to move his workshop and extend the gallery space. John now works across the town in the Gaolyard studios which he opened in 1998 as a form of co-operative for potters. The gallery has expanded and now shows not only a wide representation of the best in contemporary studio pottery, but also a valued collection of master potters of the 20th century known as the “CBS. Collection”.

With a background in the Arts, Savannah was delighted to become a part of St. Ives Ceramics in 2004. Savannah is your main point of contact within the gallery and will be pleased to assist with any enquiries you might have.

We are open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
