About the maker
Laura Crosland trained at the Leach Pottery in St Ives and now produces her own range of functional ceramics alongside highly carved one-off pieces featuring intricate geometric patterns and natural forms.
She began her ceramics career in Wolverhampton, completing a BA (Hons) in Ceramics followed by a Master’s degree in Ceramics. Laura then gained professional experience working for Peter Beard and, briefly, for Penny Simpson in Devon.
Her time at the Leach Pottery was supported by the charity Adopt a Potter, and she later joined the production team, where she developed her technical skills and deepened her understanding of traditional studio pottery. In February 2016, she established her own studio at Nucleus Arts Centre in Chatham, Kent.
In August 2018, Laura returned to St Ives to set up a studio at the Gaolyard Studios on Dove Street, founded by Leach Potter John Bedding, where she continues to produce both functional and experimental work.
