Born in Adelaide, Australia 1995, Amelia Fulton moved to the UK in 2018 and began experimenting with clay at the Welbeck Estate’s pottery studio.
Continuing experimenting at a local studio in 2021 in Wellington, Shropshire, Amelia bought her first pottery wheel and taught herself to throw. In 2021 she moved to Cornwall where she began potting full-time.
With a background in illustration and painting, Amelia has begun to use sgraffito and underglazes to decorate her stoneware pots, playing with organic shapes and abstract patterns alongside her functional electric-fired thrown work.
In addition to her stoneware, Amelia has been using wild foraged clays and exploring the world of wood-firing and foraged material glazes with a residency at Kjaerrahvaln, Norway, and participating in the Brickfield firings at St Austell’s China clay mines.
